La conférence internationale ,VIRUS'
a pour thème la sécurité dans
les réseaux sous toutes ses facettes, particulièrement
dans le domaine des bibliothèques et des archives. Dans un monde
qui se digitalise progressivement, la majorité des bibliothèques
et des archives travaillent dans des réseaux virtuels. Tous ceux
qui sont impliqués dans le domaine de l'information et de la communication
sont conscients des questions posées par la sécurité de
ces réseaux.
La conférence examine cette sécurité sous différents
aspects. Quelles conquêtes et quels développements techniques
sont significatifs ? Quelle est l'importance des possibilités
techniques pour les utilisateurs ? Quelle position les sciences de
l'information prennent-elles par rapport à la sécurité des
réseaux ? Dans quelle mesure le monde de l'édition et
de la protection des droits d'auteur est-il concerné?
Les directives légales et les conditions politiques relèvent
d'un autre domaine important. Quelles sont les intersections et les
frictions entre les règlements et directives nationales, les règles
européennes et internationales ? Quel impact notre pensée
démocratique a-t-elle sur la sécurité des réseaux ?
La dimension philosophique, éthique et artistique est un autre aspect à considérer.
Les pirates informatiques à travers le monde expriment souvent des
prétentions éthiques élevées. A-t-on le droit
de parler d'art quand il s'agit de virus informatiques ? Les pirates
informatiques se disent souvent artistes: où commence l'art, où se
termine-t-il ?

The international conference ,VIRUS' will examine the various broad aspects
of security in networks, especially in the domain of libraries and archives.
In times of increasing and worldwide digitization, the majority of libraries
and archives is working in virtual networks. All active players in the field
of information and communication are aware of the problems of security in
those networks.
The conference will look at ,network security' under different aspects.
What technical advances and developments will determine the future? What
importance do these technical possibilities have for the user? What position
do information sciences take regarding network security? To what extent
are copyright and editors affected?
Legal guidelines and political requirements are of importance too. Where
are the points of intersection and points of friction between the national,
European and international regulations and directives? What impact does
our democratic way of thinking have on the network security?
The philosophical, ethical and artistic dimensions of network security will
also be examined. Hackers often claim to have high ethical motivations for
their actions worldwide. Can we put network virus in the context of arts? Hackers
often describe themselves as artists: where does art start, where does it end?
