Brussels The CAS, located in the Belgian Royal Library, was established in 1965 with funding from the Belgian government and a grant of $15,000 from the American Council of Learned Societies. Its function was to manage and expand the small American Studies collection which had been deposited at the library by the Fulbright Commission and which then held about 1.000 volumes. The CAS is at the disposal of students and researchers, Belgians and foreigners. Its principal goal is to encourage research in all areas of American Studies.
