SUMMARY:Boesmans Wave 26 @ KBR
DESCRIPTION:Boesmans Wave 26 @ KBR\nIn February and March\, KBR is joining La Monnaie\, Flagey\, the Brussels Philharmonic\, the Royal Conservatory of Brussels\, the Royal Academy of Belgium\, and the Klara Festival to celebrate the work of Philippe Boesmans (1936–2022) through concerts\, masterclasses\, and lectures. \n\n \n Browse the schedule \n\n \n  \n  \nFor KBR\, what could be more natural and exciting than to be part of this event? In 2021\, KBR helped save seventeen manuscripts by this internationally renowned Belgian composer from being dispersed\, with the support of the King Baudouin Foundation for the acquisition of the collection. Deposited at KBR\, these scores were not only stored in proper conservation materials but also catalogued online\, ensuring their preservation and accessibility. Recently\, they have also been featured on a new website dedicated to the composer. \n\n \n Discover the new website \n\n \n  \n  \nEvent at KBR\nDuring these festive weeks\, KBR will host\, on March 6 at 12:30 PM\, the Composition and Classical Writing class from the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles (CrB). SUMMARY:Library Treasures
DESCRIPTION:Exceptional treasures from Belgium’s two main music libraries \nThe rich Fétis collection at the Royal Library of Belgium (KBR) holds several scores by Johann Sebastian Bach\, including the autograph of the Lute Suite BWV 995 and the organ chaconnes BWV 1178 and 1179. The authenticity of these chaconnes was recently confirmed by the Bach-Archiv in Leipzig\, where they were performed for the first time in 320 years on Monday\, 17 November\, during an exceptional concert at the Thomaskirche. On 6 December\, they will have their Belgian premiere in collaboration with the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles. \nThe library of the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles\, also founded by Fétis\, preserves a valuable manuscript of German Baroque organ music\, partly written by Johann Friedrich Agricola\, a student of J.S. Bach. It includes compositions by major composers such as Nicolaus Bruhns and Dietrich Buxtehude—the latter being where the young Bach studied shortly after composing the two chaconnes now held in the KBR collection. \nIn collaboration with KBR\, the Chamber Music class from the Early Music department and Benoît Mernier’s Organ class invite you to explore these unique manuscripts. The program combines organ pieces with vocal works by the same composers\, taking you on a remarkable musical journey through time. \nCoordination: Benoît Mernier\nPerformers: Organ Class of the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles \nPractical Information: \n\nFree entry\, no reservation required\nOur Lady of the Riches Claires Church23 Riches Claires Street\, 1000 Brussels

SUMMARY:Lunchtime concert : Donax
DESCRIPTION:Bram Nolf (oboe)\, Luc Loubry (bassoon) and Hans Ryckelynck (piano) will let their instruments resonate in duo or trio formations\, in a programme with Belgian music at its heart\, featuring works by Absil\, Craens and Poot. These pieces will also enter into dialogue with the Trio for Oboe\, Bassoon and Piano composed by Francis Poulenc in 1926. A unique feature: not only will we hear this three-movement work performed by the musicians\, but we will also listen to excerpts from a recording in which the composer himself plays the piano—an audio archive preserved in KBR’s Yves Becko collection. \nMusicians\n\nBram Nolf\, oboe\nLuc Loubry\, bassoon\nHans Ryckelynck\, piano\n\nProgramme\nAbsil – Craens – Poot – Poulenc \nTickets\nBuy your tickets online to ensure to have a seat. SUMMARY:Lunchtime concert : Ensemble Mendelssohn
DESCRIPTION:Our Lunchtime Concert season will open with a concert celebrating Théo Ysaÿe\, a Belgian pianist and composer whose work is rightly enjoying renewed interest. SUMMARY:ARTONOV - Loïe Fuller : Research [Fully booked]
DESCRIPTION:With Loïe Fuller: Research\, choreographer Ola Maciejewska offers a new look at the serpentine dances invented by Loïe Fuller. Attracted by the sculptural construction\, an entity composed of textile\, bamboo sticks\, sounds\, air and the centrifugal force of the body in an active loop\, Maciejewska deconstructs this historical reference through hybrid forms produced by this construction. Invisible and visible\, material and ephemeral\, real and imaginary are carefully intertwined to play with what is given to see. Maciejewska had ‘negotiated with a ghost’ – the expression is hers – and played with the history of dance in order to create a visual poem\, a fantastic tale: a fascinating cabinet of curiosities that is at once timeless and contemporary. \nThe performance will be preceded by a short intimate concert (15 min) \n\n \n buy your ticket \n\n \n \n Discover the KBR museum \n\n \nThe ARTONOV Festival is inspired by the international Art Nouveau movement\, both for its philosophy and its implementation\, but also by the Japanese sensorial and multidisciplinary art. Its goal is to generate a convergence between the performing arts – music\, dance\, theatre – andfashion and visual arts\, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and creation in Art Nouveau and Art Deco houses and other venues of remarkable architecture in Brussels. \nThe Festival presents a dozen original and innovative artistic performances featuring young people and professionals. It aims to offer artists\, and primarily emerging artists\, the opportunity to develop their artistic projects in a spirit of collaboration between generations\, nationalities and artistic disciplines.
