As part of the international symposium “Toots Thielemans (1922-2016). A Century of Music across Europe and America” (9 – 11 May 2022), KBR and Bozar are joining forces with the two Brussels Conservatories of Music to offer “Toots 100 & Beyond”, a premiere concert dedicated to the compositions of the author of “Bluesette”.
An ensemble of young talented musicians from the two conservatories will perform a suite of pieces specifically composed for the occasion and based upon those of Toots.
The second part of the evening will be dedicated to the presentation of the Toots Thielemans Jazz Award. This joint initiative of Bozar and the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel will reward the most deserving student from the jazz section of the conservatory. The winner will receive financial support and will be invited to give a concert as part of the Bozar season.
The late Toot Thielemans had personally wanted to link his name to this prize, which was intended to launch the careers of young Belgian jazz talents.
