Exceptional closure in preparation of the new Library Management System

The Royal Library of Belgium will introduce a new Library Management System, Syracuse, on Monday 10 September. In preparation of this new system the Library will be closed to the public for one week from 1 to 9 September 2018.

During the closure you won’t be able to access or consult any books or documents in person. You will however still be able to search the online catalogue. Please make sure you plan your research accordingly.

What’s happening during the closure?

  1. The new Library Management System means a change in work flow and processes for the reading rooms and its staff. All members of staff and cataloguers will therefore receive extensive training on the new system.
  2. All modules (catalogue, depot module and coding interface) will undergo a final test to ensure a seamless launch on Monday 10 September.
  3. The Library will be moving some departments and documents. Having no visitors will allow for an easy and safe move.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the closure and ensure you that on Monday 10 September the Library and its staff will be happy to welcome its visitors back.
