Meet the Master

From 22 February to 2 June 2024, you can visit KBR for the exhibition “James Ensor. Inspired by Brussels”. James Ensor is one of the greatest artists in Belgian history. The year 2024 will mark the 75th anniversary of his death.

KBR and the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium together have a diverse Ensor collection consisting of more than 250 paintings, drawings and prints. We are joining forces and will bring together a unique selection of the artist’s masterpieces.

The exhibition partly takes place at the Palace of Charles de Lorraine, a hidden gem in the heart of Brussels and the place where James Ensor, together with art circles such as “Les XX”, would conquer the art world forever from 1887 onwards.

Visit the exhibition together with your club, friends or family and discover the important influence of the city of Brussels on this Belgian artist.

Find out details and anecdotes about the artist during an interactive lecture before setting out together to discover his paintings, drawings and prints with new knowledge. Afterwards, you can visit the exhibition at your own pace.
