Humor and heritage come together on Heritage Day. Visit the KBR museum, which is free on the occasion of Heritage Day, and discover manuscripts full of funny and sometimes mischievous scenes from the Middle Ages.
At the end of your visit, you can join our open workshop at the museum exit. Color miniatures with pigments, write your text with ink and a quill, or use pencils and pens. Everything is provided to create your own medieval meme – simple, creative, and fun for all ages.
Be inspired by the margins of medieval manuscripts, full of humor: mocking monkeys, cheeky scenes, and strange hermaphroditic creatures show that life in the Middle Ages could also be surprisingly playful and funny!
Combine your visit to the museum with this self-guided drop-in session and explore your skills as a medieval miniaturist or copyist. We provide all the materials and set you up comfortably—you just have to let your creativity flow!
