Restaurant
a l b e r t is the renovated restaurant on the 5th floor of KBR. Chef Filip Fransen works together with farmers and producers located near Brussels. Expect a variety of raw milk cheeses, coldcuts, natural wines, gastrobeers and other amazing products.
And, to save the best till last, you can savour all these treats while enjoying one of the best views of Brussels.

Relaxation spaces
Thanks to the redesign of the reception of KBR, it became a very pleasant place to abide. Take a seat in our lounge while you wait for your appointment or work quietly on your laptop. You can buy a museum ticket or a reader’s card at the counter. The staff will help you with all of your questions.
In our courtyard you can get a breath of fresh air while taking a break from studying or researching. It is a green and pleasant resting place in the middle of the busy center of the city.

You can buy the books and exhibition catalogues that KBR publishes, prints of works by famous artists and unique products that we develop in collaboration with artists.

Concert hall
KBR houses a small concert hall on the 4th floor. Six times a year we organise a musical encounter.
Every concert is an journey to the heart of scores that are preserved in the institution. Talented and passionate musicians bring you well-known as well as unknown musical treasures from their repertoire.

In 2019, KBR renovated the palace of Charles of Lorraine, an 18th-century palace encased in the library building. The palace was transformed into a beautiful exhibition space, the first exhibition being “The World of Bruegel in Black and White“. The exhibition showed a complete collection of Bruegel’s prints in the context of the Bruegel Year.
In 2022, KBR and the Musical Instruments Museum (MIM) celebrated Toots Thielemans’ 100th birthday with an exhibition entitled “Toots 100. The Sound of a Belgian Legend”. Until 31 August 2022, visitors were able to enjoy an immersive exhibition in which sound and music play the leading role.
