What does the KBR museum represent for you?

I discovered the KBR museum through the Library of the Dukes of Burgundy at its opening in 2021. It felt like uncovering an extraordinary hidden treasure within the library. I thought I knew the library well, having frequented it as a student, but this discovery sparked my desire to learn more and to draw closer to this remarkable heritage.

What role do culture, books, and heritage play in your personal or professional life?

I share the view of Marcus Tullius Cicero, who wrote: “If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.” For me as well, culture, books, music, heritage, and gardens play an essential role in my life, they are woven into my everyday experience.
Art and books allow us to learn and grow; they are a constant source of inspiration and a space for endless reflection and exchange of ideas. They are indispensable to our balance, particularly in a world increasingly unsettled by fake news and the influence of social media.

Do you have a favorite work, piece, or manuscript in the museum?

The personal illuminated Book of Hours of Philip the Good, and the autograph manuscript of the Lute Suite by Johann Sebastian Bach. These are intimate possessions of great figures in our history. To see a Bach autograph in person, to hold Philip the Good’s personal Book of Hours (a privilege of being a Friend of the KBR museum), to stand before these objects for a few moments and reflect on their significance — these are profound experiences. They are an immense privilege and never fail to move me deeply.
