Lunchtime concert : Quartetto Goldberg
For the final concert of 2025, KBR will welcome the Quartetto Goldberg, an ensemble whose name echoes J. S. Bach’s famous Goldberg Variations. Violinists Jingzhi Zhang and Giacomo Lucato, violist Matilde Simionato and cellist Martino Simionato are currently pursuing their training at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, with which KBR has enjoyed a long-standing collaboration. On the programme: the Five Pieces (1924) by Czech composer Erwin Schulhoff, Giacomo Puccini’s melancholic Crisantemi (1890), and the monumental String Quartet Op. 44 No. 2 by Mendelssohn, composed and premiered in Leipzig in 1837.
