Major works in KBR

Entrance will be moved temporarily to Boulevard de l’Empereur 2.

Major works will be carried out on the Palace of Charles of Lorraine, the entrance on the Mont des Arts and in and around the Nassau chapel, for the KBR Museum.

 

From 8 April: entrance from Boulevard de l’Empereur 2

The entire construction site will be closed to the public from 8 April onward. The entrances on the Mont des Arts and Place du Musée 1 will no longer be accessible.

Until 15 October 2019, the only entrance and exit for the KBR building will be Boulevard de l’Empereur 2. Construction works will start on 23 April.

 

Impact on library services

  • Public entrance on Boulevard de l’Empereur 2 (from 8 April)
  • Librarium and shop are closed
  • Noise impact from these works can be significant at times

Since our shop is located inside the construction site, it will be closed until the end of the works.  You can still order publications through shop@kbr.be.

 

Follow the works first hand

One of the Coronelli globes has to be moved: it has been on display for years near the entrance. With a diameter of 113 cm, moving this object is quite a logistical challenge.

Voor de infrastructuurwerken in KBR moest ook een van de globes van Vincenzo Coronelli, waar elke bezoeker voorbij wandelt, verhuisd worden. Met zijn diameter van 113 cm geen evidentie.Dans le cadre des travaux d’infrastructure de KBR, un des globes de Vincenzo Coronelli, devant lequel chaque visiteur passait à l’entrée au Mont des Arts, a été déménagé.
